An electroacoustic music piece produced with ambitools.
The concepts of nature and musical space are at the heart of the compositional thinking of Extrapolation de la campagne, a hybrid music piece combining electronic sounds and recordings from the rural environment.
This ambisonic piece has 4 movements and lasts about twenty minutes. It was composed by Jean-Basile Sosa in a 22.2 loudspeaker listening room during an artist residency supported by the french Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music (SACEM) at my laboratory. Jean-Basile used ambitools compiled for Csound to spatialize his music.
The premiere of the piece was held on Thursday January 27, 2022 during the International Sound Biennial, “Le Mans Sonore” in Le Mans, France.
Although the most immersive rendering is obtained in the middle of a loudspeaker array, you can listen below to a binaural version, obtained by recording the binaural signals with a dummy head placed in the center of the system used for the composition (listen with headphones):
