The Spatbox: Live spatialization mixing at your fingertips!
Introduction
Imagine an autonomous spatial audio live mixing machine where you could, in your home studio compose or improvise with your instruments moving in the 3D space: That is exactly what the Spatbox offers!

In this context, I started this project in 2022 to build my dreamt instrument: an hardware interface to be able to improvise live spatial with my synths in my home studio with only 8 loudspeakers.
The Spatbox
The Spatbox is an hardware interface that creates live spatial mix from your synths, drum machines or any kind of sound which will move all around the audience along trajectories.
The current prototype offers the following features:
- Parametric trajectory generation using LFOs
- Spherical/Cartesian coordinate system
- Trajectories visualization
- Automous mode with 6 inputs to 8 loudspeaker outputs or headphone output with binaural
- Remote mode for any spatial audio system command
- MIDI/Int clock sync
- Preset saving and loading
- Hold/Reset the sources movements on their respective trajectories
- Spatial audio effect layer : reverb, warping, directionnal filtering, …
- Control each source or all the sources at the same time
- Doppler effect
